An extraordinary journey into the subconscious
Young Prince Homburg has an ecstatic, impulsive, impatient, aspiring, emotional life. Principles and pathos constitute his world-view, bending reality. He is a figure that is likeable but out of touch with reality, unrealistically appealing.
In a battle, he breaches an order, which makes him win, but there is an inconceivable price to pay. The whole world around him collapses. Nothing is what it seemed, nobody is like he thought they were. What is beyond the illusions? What remains if every value is deprived of its content? How can one survive? An invisible force breaks him down. He lives in another world, yet he has to take responsibility in this one.
